Senior Databricks Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Databricks Engineer to join our international team on a part-time, remote basis. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will design and deliver advanced data solutions using Databricks, collaborate with global enterprise clients, and provide technical expertise across projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and platforms using Databricks
• Work with clients across South Africa, the Middle East, and Europe to deliver high-quality solutions
• Implement best practices for Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Lakehouse architecture
• Collaborate with cloud teams to deploy and manage data solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Troubleshoot performance issues and ensure data quality, reliability, and governance
• Contribute to presale discussions and provide technical input when required

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, big data, or cloud data solutions
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks in production environments
• Strong expertise in Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and MLflow
• Solid knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience in building and maintaining production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Good communication and collaboration skills with distributed teams

Nice to Have

• Databricks certifications
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD for data platforms
• Familiarity with data privacy, security, and compliance in cloud environments
